Thumbs up

Looking for clean white pigeons

I'm interested in clean white "young" birds that we can fly.Homers and or racers, or some type of bird that is close. These birds will just be for looks so they don't have to be the best in the loft.I can't spend alot of money but if you can help me get started up once again, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, strut

Most people wont have any young birds you can have because they have already seperated their birds until the end of the year. birds born now are pretty much worthless. you may want to try to start getting some old birds and wait until the end of the year and start breeding them. hope it all works out. chris

Hi Lee.......I have pure white belgian homing pigeons. They are stichelbaut/white grooter mixes, built for speed and intelligence. If I allowed it, I would have babies all year around, and the pijis that are born in may-december are just as good as the ones born in march and april. As a matter of fact my smartest pigeons were born in sept, nov, and dec. I do have young birds available, that will be ready to go soon. I live in Mo. and ship through the post office, but wasnt aware that the dont ship right now. The shipping is guaranteed 2 days, and the shipping containers from Foys are designed to keep cool air on the bottom and push warm air to the top and out. Email me if you are interested.

There are some whites listed on egg bid now for sale. egg bid .com then click on birds. Then go down the list to pigeons only click on it. There will be several breeds for sale. And many times white racers will be posted. You can sign up and bid they do not sell real high. Good luck

I'm a little concerned about how you describe what you want.

"Only for Looks" -- does this mean you're not going to fly them anywhere but in your backyard?

If you are planning on starting up a release business, you need more than "looks" in your birds. You need healthy, well bred, able to home well birds too -- unless you want to be like some of the creeps I know in the "business", who breed year round, sell garbage for birds, and don't give a whit if they can home from over 5 miles -- they'll just breed more and more to replace the ones they lose. They don't band their birds either, so no one can trace the birds back to them.

Then the good folks who frequent this forum end up saving and caring for the lost birds, or we start seeing more and more white "ferals" in the parks.

Not to get off on a rant, but personally I despise folks like that.

As Chris has already mentioned, for various reasons, birds raised now aren't the greatest -- they are less healthy, less likely to be properly trained before they have to be locked down for winter/hawk season, and highly likely to be lost come spring when you let them out again.

Save your money and heartache -- get yourself a couple of pairs of breeders, and raise your own birds next spring, or wait and buy youngsters from good, healthy stock, in February or March, when most good breeders will have some available.
