I have seen on TV a segment in which they showed Mike Tyson with his pigeons. They were numerous and looked healthy and happy, and he seemed to enjoy them a lot. Just goes to show that people with a lot going on in their lives can certainly benefit from the healing aspects of having pigeons.

All the ones I knew were on the list Cindy posted.
Don't you think it's great that Picasso named his daughter Paloma.

Excellent!

That is excellent!.....The mental healing power of pigeons. If it relaxes and calms you into some type of peaceful serenity.....then it certainly is healthy for you. I never knew some many celebs had them. Very nice indeed., Thanks for sharing as well. ~ Don A.

One thing i don't understand is the "Disney thing" saying they had to close down the lofts in the Orlando, Florida park because of "hawks" seems like a bogus excuse to me, hawks are a part of nature and every fancier has to deal with losing some of his or her birds to them, i believe it was the main upper management who is no longer there (Thank God) that had a part in closing down the lofts because of the notion some people have that pigeons are nothing more than flying rats!
Here's a quick story that happened to me recently, i went to the post office to pick up some birds i purchased, the person behind the counter made a remark about pigeons (not in a kind way) I said no "White Doves" and their whole demeanor changed instantly smiling and saying "Oh for a wedding release" I had to laugh as i left the post office, seems like we as pigeon people have not done a good job educating people about pigeons and the role they have played in history even saving many lives in time of war!

I had a similar situation a couple years back.

Our next door neighbor & I were have a 'pigeon' conversation over the fence, in which our 'inside' aviary was in clear view.

The nieghbor was talking nothing but trash about 'feral' pigeons, primarily the most popular subject, 'their poop'.
I had listened to enough & said, as I was looking towards the aviary, "My pigeons poop a lot too." Her reply was, "Yeah, but your pigeons are pretty."

Sad, but true, 'feral' pigeons are looked upon differently than our fancy ones.
