pigeon carriers/baskets

Where can I buy pigeon baskets/carriers in the UK? Second hand or new.

I live in the south east, London/Surrey area.

Tried ebay but no luck.

Any advice or ideas welcomed. Many thanks.

Jayne

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for, Jayne, but have a look at these:

Hi Jayne,

Can you wait until tomorrow before doing anything? I am going to Ken's Corn Stores tomorrow and they sometimes have the cardboard carriers. Everything for Pets is Boddy and Ridewood and they never seem to have anything in stock. Besides which the wicker ones are so hard to clean, specially if they have been used for PMV birds. Gem at Chichester used to have some nice metal ones, single, double, quadruple and 8 bird carriers, very reasonable too. This is an example of an 8 bird box:

Hi Cynthia, Only just seen your post, so have probably missed your trip to the shop!

Yes I would be taking PMV's mainly so I have to think about the cleaning factor with regard to poops etc.

You are right it is difficult cleaning poops off wicker baskets.

Ill give you a call tomorrow.

Thanks for your input. I am not rushing anything but do need something with handles should I have to do a bridge rescue or pick up piggies from the pigeon proofing depot which involves a train ride.

Hi Jayne,

They didn't have anything suitable at Ken's, they didn't even have the woodchips I had gone there to buy!

My favourite pigeon transporter is the Ferplast one from Pets at Home, it is very compact and easy to clean. I gave my only one to Hallswood some months ago and really missed it, fortunately it turned up again. It can be put in a shopping bag when discretion is needed.

OK, OK .. .. Sorry! But I got the real thing in the first link! Though in looking at those baskets again, they too are a bit small too for the number of birds they state.

Dang! I just can't squeak a thing by here, and I'm happy for that! Good job for catching this booboo!

Terry
