JGregg does have a point, although my friend did have a pair of doves, the female NEVER had any young of her own but she and her mate DID foster the eggs.

Interesting point. I know that this is a common practice in Europe. There are a lot of people that got very nice birds at a much reduced price by buying fertile eggs instead of youngsters. I wonder what they are doing over there that we are not doing over here. My concern is not knowing what you are getting. The seller can claim that the eggs are out of his finest breeders when in fact he could grab some ferral eggs and stick them in a box to you. Come to think of it, that claim could be made with youngsters also so, like all things pigeon, it comes down to the trust you have with the owner.

Just a thought.

Good point, although it helps to read a seller's feedback which ranges from positive to negative. Most likely a seller whose feedback is ALWAYS positive is the best one to go with.

Selling fertile pigeon eggs is a bad idea-JMO.
Since I have very strong feelings about this process, I am THIRDING JGregg's statement (I already "FIRSTED" earlier in this thread)...

Yeah... ya did... but still if ebay allows users to sell eggs from chickens, ducks, pheasants etc.. I doubt that they WOULDN'T allow someone to sell pigeon or dove eggs on the site...but ya never know

No, as I mentioned in response #2--the screening process--so I wouldn't think
about doing that as I didn't see it as being a good idea to begin with.
What can I say?

That's true, here's an example. True story! the breeder where we bought Bentley told us he was 7 weeks but when she emailed us his date of birth I counted all the way back to July(We got him in August) and he was 6 weeks old when we got him!

Puppies typically don't leave the breeder's home until they are 8 to 12 weeks old. But you've got a point, although ebay does have a section where you can post what they call a "Want it now" ad. Which is basically a wanted ad, sort of like in the newspaper.

And thanks for the info on the other Henderson memeber, I spoke with her via Private message, she seems to be pretty nice.
