Some updates of my own...

We finally finished our "dove loft". Really it is more like an insulated building full of 9 cages, each big enough for a pair of homers to raise nicely in. It was first for our new members to our dove family from Mrs. Newman, but we had cages left over soo...I paired and separated my new breeders from Renee in the ones left, and added a pair of purebred Birmingham rollers in the last cage. One of the little breeders was left odd hen out, so once I decide on her new mate, I'll move her in place of the rollers (they dont need that big of a cage anyways). So now, I guess you could say it is no longer a dove cage, but a breeding cage
Just in case you were wondering, everyone is doing just great in their new home and no one is giving me any problems as far as the homers go. One of the new doves, Bowie, is a little trouble maker though. I tried to put a hen (Snow) in with him, but he insisted on showing off and not only chasing, but pecking her too. Snow looks a little rough because she is growing in some new feathers here and there, the stress of moving around and her previous owner having some sudden health problems probably messed up her moult...
Because of that, I just let her move in with Georgia and Bam Bam...and let little Bowie strut his stuff by himself while she "recovers".
I also have 7 homer squeakers and 2 roller squeakers waiting for their picture to be taken (pics soon), and another pair on eggs that should be hatching soon :O

To wrap up the updates, we had to do a project in art class where you had to pick a primary color, and use only it, and the colors it makes to paint a symmetrical picture (we could also use black, white, and brown). I decided I'd try doing something more detailed than a simple pattern, so I painted Victoria Crowned Pigeons in purples, blues, and greens.
Here's the painting - http://picasaweb.google.com/MaryOfEx...12360108345890
You can also go to my other albums from there to see pictures of the dove/breeding cages and a few other pigeons I've added to the albums recently

You have beautiful birds Mary! I love the look of their new home too. Congrats on finishing it.

And your artwork is stunning - you have such talent. I hope you never stop drawing and painting -- and when you start exhibiting we can all say "I knew her when..." Really - your proportions are so good and the detail (especially in the pencil drawing of Skydancer) is so impressive - just like looking at a photograph.

I do hope Bowie calms down soon so Snow can move in -- they would make a cute pair and I'd love to see their babies

Thanks for the updates!!
