hi there I'm in Illinois, in the chicagoland area. I am looking to adopt/buy/obtain a
female pigeon. i've been thinking about it for awhile and my bird seems lonely. i want to get him a mate.
I posted in the adoption forums but to no avail.
i've read threads and made posts about having two birds so i think i'm about ready to give scooter a friend/mate. its just that I dont really know where to get another bird. I was lucky enough to get Scooter through Petfinder but there isn't anything there in my area anymore. Is there anybody willing to help me out with shipping me a bird, or meeting so I can pick her up? I would be looking at something in the near future. I'm looking for a pretty bird as Scooter is very stunning in looks so I want an amazing female bird to be alongside him hehehe. There are some amazing ferals in my area that are unlike any other birds or pictures I've seen. Even if I got one of these, I know it would have to have vet check ups and be quarantined from my own bird for a while. However has anybody gotten experience from picking up a feral as a pet, or do you usually adopt from a reputable source?
I know having a male + female = babies, but I would be looking to practice "birth control" and perhaps have
dummy eggs. I've read enough where I may allow the pair to mate and get a squab or 2. I would then find some way to keep the baby or put him up for adoption to a reputable parent.
