Racing Pigeon

Six weeks ago, a racing pigeon made his home in a tree in our front yard. I immediately phone the association in OK and was quickly educated on how to track down the owner and food related issues. I was able to track his home to New Jersey. Unfortunately, according to the current Secretary, the previous Secretary had passed away and his daughter threw all of the 2006 records away. Therefore, his owner could not be located. We developed a very nice bond to the mere fact my husband was prepared to build a coop for him on Sunday. On Sunday morning, I came out to feed him and change the water, he was nowhere to be found. Is it possible he flew back to his original home? There was no sign of preditors and we do have 7 English Labs so preditors are very seldom seen.

Thank you.

It's very possible that the bird decided to go home. Wouldn't be the first time we've seen it happen. We don't know what triggers in their tiny brain, but sometimes, for whatever reason, they just decide to go home.............
