Found AGSG Pigeion in Michigan

We have an AGSG Pigeon perched on the top of our bathroom window. His band reads AGSG07872411. Pigie doesn't seem to be afraid of me unless I get closer than 10 inches. He certainly is a beautiful bird, but he surely can make a mess on the deck. We don't need to water and feed him since he does well by himself. There is a large pond very close to his perch. We would like to find his owner or if not, find someone to adopt him. We are in Grand Rapids, Michigan. You can call 616 874 5831 or e-mail me.

Unfortunately, Marsha, there are hundreds perhaps even thousands of these AGSG birds that are being thrown out to fend for themselves. This is the result of a pyramid scheme to raise meat pigeons that went bankrupt and the pigeons are the ultimate victims. These birds appear to be able to survive, but if you don't catch it and provide food & water, it will wither and die of starvation. If you can catch it and hold it, the members here will try to find a forever home to adopt it. Perhaps you will even fall in love with the bird as they make marvelous pets. If not then a home will be found and contact will be arranged between you and whomever. Please do rescue this bird in the meantime as his very life depends on your help.

Thank you, Nona. What you said helps me know a little more about these birds. This is the first time I have ever used any such way of public communicating except for e-mail. This bird is surviving quite well by the quantity of guano he produces. There is plenty of water and all kinds of seeds and whatever around here. I don't want to put it into a cage until someone wants to adopt it. I am not Marsha. Marshawlynette was the name my dad gave to his garden tractor which I still have. It is named for his four grandaughters, Marsha, Shawnee, Lynne, and Annette. So far four generations have driven it. I'm waiting for my two great grandchildren to be the fifth. Thanks again for the information on Pigie. Bill

If you still need help with this piji here's a listing I came across today:

Contact Information
Name: matty lawrence
Street Address: 403 popps rd
City: mio
State/Province: Michigan
Zip/Postal Code: 48647
Telephone Number: 989-826-8282

I think she focuses on parrots but may know of other rescues in the area or be willing to take in a rescued pigeon.
