    Hello!

I have been reading some of your post. You seem to be a vet or an expert in pigeon health.

I am new here, so please bear with me.

I'm wondering if you can help me with one of my pigeons. She has severe diarrhea. She was purchased last June 22, 2014 with her brother, which is healthy. They stayed in a box for 6 hours when I went back home since I bought them while on a business trip. The seller said that they are about three or four months old and haven't bred.

Her poop is very watery with a small amount of feces in the middle. The liquid is clear. There is no blood or anything. Just plenty of clear liquid with some small green feces(no white color). I noticed that she is drinking so much more than her brother. They are German Beauty Homers, which means they are larger, thus the watery poop causes the cage(plywood flooring) to be wet all the time. I have to clean it every morning and evening because it makes the floor slippery and smelly. They both eat a lot. But after eating, she puffs up all the time. She is kinda thin at the moment. Well, thinner than her brother. I'm worried it will worsen. I live in a province in the Philippines so we don't have a local bird vet. The available medicine is for fighting cocks, which is very popular here in our country.

I feed them pigeon pellet mixed with GMP3(I assume this pellet feed is for fighting cocks) because the seller said it is what he is feeding them. Before feeding, I always give them fresh water in the morning and afternoon. I cannot isolate her because I only have 1 cage. I just hope her brother doesn't get sick too. If you can give me some tips on how to take care of her and what medication to administer. Specifically, the dosage and frequency. Thank you in advance!

You bet..! Let me knw how things are going?

Paratyphoid usually is a months or five weeks or six weeks treatment...there are quite a few various Medicines for it...and, unfortunately, there are different strains of it...so, if using one medicine for a Month does not do it, then try a different one, and see how it does.

    Hi pdpbison
I have a pigeon who possibly had paratyphoid or PMV. He was treated with Baytril for 10 days. Now, one of the legs has got stiffened, along with the wing on that side. Hence he topples to the weak side and thrashes around. I have been giving him massages for some time now, but I can't see any improvement. I read in one post in which you gave advice on keeping such pigeons propped up (which I am doing). Any advice on what else I can do to get him healing? Is this a treatable condition?
    Much thanks in advance!

Hello, my rescued pet pigeon wants me to hold its beak and it shakes its body, what does it mean? Does it want food? Also after feeding it keeps crying, it is a baby, so still hand fed, but i guess it is 4 weeks old, thank you very much

Hey there, Phil, I have found yet another pigeon that needs your help. This time, I was in Henderson when I found them. They can't fly, but their wing doesn't look like the last pigeon, so I don't know if it is broken, or sprained. I'm sure the pigeon would be very happy if you could come by and pick them up. :)

Hi, I've been talking with someone from this website about a bird I have. I'm in Las Vegas, off of Pecos and Russell. My husband was in the garage on Wednesday, working on his truck and a pigeon flew in the garage. He's been here at the house ever since. His tag indicates he's from Maryland and I've left several messages for the owner. No one seems interested in collecting the little guy. He's a little shy, but for a bird, pretty friendly. We are not set up to have a bird at our house though. I have a cat that used to be a stray many years ago and knows the way to kill a bird quickly. There are also many cats in our neighborhood that roam around. I'm worried for him. He seems smart enough to stay on the roof at night and out of immediate danger. I've given him bread and water but he needs a home. He likes people and wants to be around them, almost dog like. I've been told you may possibly be interested in helping this little lost pigeon. It looks like he's going to be a Nevadan now. Please help me, and the bird. My cell # is 672-0444- call and let me know if you can possibly help him out.

Hi Phil, I'm really sorry to continue to ask you for help, but once again, I found a pigeon.

This time, a full grown one. I was just walking home from the store, two dogs in tow, and I found a pigeon sitting on the pipes outside of the store. I walked towards him, and it didn't put up a fight, so I picked it right up. It seems it may have a broken wing, as there is something sticking out of one of its wings.

I know there is nothing that I can do, as I have no idea how these things work, and it would be MUCH appreciated if you could come get 'em tomorrow.
