I like to let my pigeon run freely around the town at night, but lately I've been noticing that she is hanging with a group of male pigeons.(I know because i checked!) And everytime i see them together, at least one of them is "hitting up" my pigeon. I really don't want her to get pregnant. What do I do? Do you have this problem?
Either isolate her or destroy eggs. Since pigeons mate for life and share equally in parenting the chicks, it will put undo stress on your bird to go it alone.
Pigeons usually lay two eggs. They won't usually set the first until the second one is layed. The reason for this is because life begins in the layed egg when the temperature is reset to 82* F. That way the chicks develop in tandem after 17-18 days.
