Noisy doves
Hi guys,
I've been away from Uni for a year on a work placement and will be returning this September. During the year I was living at home and my mum agreed to let me buy a pair of Barbary/ring neck doves (we've always had birds - mostly small parrots - but this pair are our first pigeon-like pets).
The plan was that I was going to take my doves back to uni with me (my landlord allows pets and is ok with me bringing the doves).
However, despite having done a lot of research before I bought them, I just hadn't realised how loud and how continuous the doves' cooing would be. My mum thinks this will cause problems living in a flat at university and I'm worried she may be right. I make sure my room is dark at night so they don't coo but they still often start cooing early in the morning and the male coos all day. He is pretty loud and very consistent.
Basically, I don't know what to do. I don't want to get rid of them (as per my mum's suggestion) because I've bought them as pets and they're my responsibility now - plus, they're really sweet birds and I'd really miss them if I had to get rid of them.
It's a bit of a dilemma. I know there's no magic solution to this issue but I'm hoping one of you might be able to give me some advice on what to do! Thanks for reading.
