Fantails sexing Probelm
I recently purchased a pair of fantail pigeons from a show breeder. He has 4 pigeon lofts , he has said that in winter he separates male and females and put them into different lost so that they do not mate. He also agrees that sometime he also gets confused while sexing his pigeons.
I have selected 1 fantail from one lost and she was believed to be a female and selected a male fantail from different lost believed him to be a male. The way he has determined the sexes of my selection , by looking at their standing position .
I brought them home believing that i have a pair. The male is 5 years old and the female is 2 years old. When i have brought them home , that night the one of them was hiding under the other fantail feather but next day they were apart. From my knowledge the male always coos and follows the females but he is not doing this , he only moves in circles but far away from the female . Today i have noticed that the male (believed) has tried to kiss the female but she attacked her and then again they sat apart from each other.
is this behavior due to being in a new home ? is this behavior because they never been a pair before ?
