Found pigeon, puzzled

I found a pigeon in Goliad, TX that can't fly well but I can't figure out what's wrong with him. He sat in one spot for hours until I went to check on him. He was easily caught after trying to fly away, hitting a tree branch, and crashing back to the ground. I brought him home and put him in a large kennel where he readily drank and greedily ate bird seed. His poo was mostly liquid that night. Next day I fixed up an old parrot cage for him outside and I've been watching him closely. He uses both wings readily and gets lift when he flaps, but if I drop my hands and make him fly he kind of spirals to the ground and lands hard, then acts kind of dizzy before straightening up and walking. He doesn't fly willingly. He has stretched both wings and legs out fully, his poo is now normal, he grips well with both feet, his feathers aren't puffed, his eyes look bright, he reacts to things moving on both sides his head so I know both eyes can see, but he eats real erratically like he can't see the food well. He comes straight to a food dish, then throws his head around underneath him until his beak lands in seed. Then he goes to town, eating to his heart's content. Does anyone know what might be wrong with this pigeon?

Not sure. Have you looked in his mouth to see if he has yellow ( canker)? His dizziness and head movements could be PMV. He could have flown into something and have a concussion ( ?). Thank you for helping him. Hopefully someone expert will answer soon.

I haven't looked in his mouth but I will tomorrow. (He's sleeping now.) Any idea if a concussion can be treated? Thanks for the advice!

Sounds to me like he might have PMV. He will need to be kept seperate from other birds for the next 6 weeks until the virus has shed. Just make sure he is indeed eating and not scattering the seeds around. Put down a small dish of water so that he does not drown when he has seizures. If you see him having seizures, remember he is not in pain and will eventually get better. He will be unreleasable once recovered, cause the seizures might return when under stress.
