INJURED in Springfield, MO

I have just picked up an injured pigeon in Springfield, Missouri, USA. I am posting my location to see if anyone is close to help. I did an internet search and was unable to find a wildlife rehabilitator in my area for pigeons. I am currently reading through the information on this site. I have placed the pigeon in a rabbit cage inside my home. I have provided blankets and water. I think one of it's wings is injured with a wound. I will try to get a photo. My phone number is 314.221.6165.

Thanks, Gwen

Thank you for rescuing this poor bird.
Can you clean the wound with saline and then put some antibiotic cream/ointment or Vaseline on the wound ?

How is the bird ? Is it active ? any other problems?

I hope you find someone in your area soon.

The wound can be cleaned as Dotty said with saline, which can be made by boiling
1 tablespoon of salt to 32oz of warm water, then let it cool to lukewarm. Dry and cover the wound with an antibiotic cream like Neosporine or similar. I wouldn't use Vaseline as it isn't antibiotic, and easy enough to pick one up.

Thank you. I was able to find a rehabilitator about 2 hours away and took it there this evening. It will be seen by a vet in the morning for a broken leg.
