Injured Wood Pigeon

Leeds City Centre, West Yorkshire, England

Recently found a wood pigeon next to a busy pathway, he was unsteady on his feet and unable to fly. He was able to move his wings and flap weakly around but couldn't elevate himself at all. There are no cuts or lesions on him that we have seen, his wings didn't feel broken either. Whenever he tries to fly he just falls face first.

We brought him back home and tried to give him food and water, neither of us have seen him drink and he will only eat very soft foods like wet bread and softened peanuts. We managed to trick him into eating some seeds but with not much continued success. His beak looks sore and red, like a bruise on a human and I have no idea what could have caused it. I've attached a photo, it's not a great one, but you can see the colour of his beak is not what it should be.

Whenever he sleeps his wings drop, he seems to need to consciously keep his wings by his side.
A recent development is laboured breathing, this wasn't a problem when we first found him a couple of days ago, but we can now hear him breathing shakily.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

We recently had a poster that found help with a rescue center called Every Feather, which is in Manchester. Could it be that it is about 1 hour drive away?
