Pigeon with the hump on its back

I feed city pigeons daily.
This pigeon is well known visitor of my place. (His name is Khokhoba)

I first noticed hump on its back two days ago and I think it has gotten bigger since that. He eats normally. I hand feed him and his partner most of the time. (please see image below)

The hump is hard, not soft. He does not has any other signs of illness.

What is it and how can I help him?

You help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

You would have to catch the bird to examine him or her. Then pay a vet to examine him or her as you would a pet., to get a diagnosis.

Things it could be are infected preen gland, or he or she injured its tails, or this is a hen and is holding her tail this way because of egg problems or pain.

Hi, this pigeon looks like it is ready to lay an egg or it is egg bound like ladygrey said you would have to catch this bird to really know the problem you would have to look where the egg comes out if you see an egg put on a pair of plastic gloves and examine it if it is egg bound put some vasaline on your glove and try to remove the egg also i have racing pigeons that look like that when they are sitting on eggs or like ladygrey said look at the preen gland if it is swollen just squeze the gland and it will let out anything thats there and the preen gland is at the end of the back of the bird just befor the tail.
