Tail in bad condition (Sabrina)
Sabrina is a baby pigeon I've had with me since May 12. She had a broken leg and a bad infection as a result. She tested positive for canker and Coccidiosis. She was on three medications and is now healthy and has her cast off. Her leg has healed very well.
She would be ready to release except for one thing: her tail looks terrible. She has lost a number of feathers since being with me. I assume that it's stress, but it could also be a result of the medication or some nutritional deficiency. The seed mix I feed is a high quality one and I also have Harrisons's complete on hand (the birds don't seem to like it as much, though).
Any suggestions for products or actions I can take to make sure that Sabrina grows her tail back soon? I had a pigeon recently who had lost the entire tail and she grew the whole thing back in a month and it was amazing. But Sabrina still has the feathers, they're just crappy ones. I'm not sure how best to make sure she regains her ilustrious plumage 🙂
