Good Morning,
Here in North Carolina ( Charlotte ) we are looking for a Avian or Pigeon Vet to send the pigeon droppings in other to be analyze for common pigeon illnesses. If anyone know of a Vet please help us out.
Thanks from 40 flyers in Charlotte and surrounding area.
. . . Trying to figure out what's going on.
Goliath is one of Kim's regulars from her backyard flock.
Saturday evening she noticed him perched on a chair on her patio.
Other than noticing a feather sticking out from his wing, she didn't see anything amiss. She decided to check it out...
I'm in the Sherman Oaks California. My neighbor found a pigeon in her front yard which can't fly. She put it into a large cat carrier and called me (I'm the animal person on the street). I know nothing about birds. The only bird I tried to save died at the vet, so I don't feel good about that...
I've done some research on a good diet for Moody... Basically, "live" foods are better as Phil and I have discussed... But I thought this was pretty neat:
Bold are the foods I know are good for Moody...
1. Greens, chopped (Swiss chard, mustard greens, fresh herbs, French sorrel, cilantro...
Seeing as my vet is being absolutely ridiculous and not responding to me, I have decided that due to the fact that she is not as specialized in avian medicine as I thought she was, I'm going to have to take this on myself. First order of the day is purchasing or renting, borrowing or just using...
I realize that I am making way too many topics on dear old Moody, and that this forum is for sick pigeons and not geese, but I just thought this forum might get a bit more attention than the forum 'other pet birds'. I think Moody has vent gleet. She is showing all of the signs, though I'm not...
As you know, for a while I've been wondering what could possibly be wrong with my Moody goose. At first, people suspected she was slow to grow, and therefore she was smelly and low weight. Then, it came to genes... Could she have been, instead of an embden, a roman/embden cross? And perhaps...
As some of you know, I have been hand raising baby doves for a couple of weeks now. They are both almost fully feathered, active and eating well. The older of the two is much larger, more active and bright, and is beginning to eat seeds on his own. (He was partially parent raised and so is...
It's a very delicate subject over on the parrot forums, so I decided to bring up the subject with people I know and am comfortable with. I take great joy in raising baby birds--most of them pigeons and doves, however--but I have not yet had the chance to raise a larger breed of parrot. For...

I work at an animal hospital. When I came into work today there was a pigeon in one of the cages. It was found yesterday sitting in the road in Kings Park, New York.
It is pure white with dark eyes. It has a yellow band with the number 10535 IFA 2004.
The bird is weak but resposive and...
I am new to pigeons but I would like to start up a loft form my son and I. We live in Tucson Arizona and are looking for some Homers. Anyone out there know of some breeders in our area?
Thanks in advance,
Scott
Hi, Yesterday while walking my dogs my brother saw a pigeon being attaked by a cat in a school field. We managed to shoo the cat off(with help from the dogs) and I managed to climb a fence to get to him.
He flew a short distance off the ground(about 20cm high) but appears to have lost all his...
hi pijie people,
i'm sort of coaching a new pijie person who just found a pigeon. long story short, the vet diagnosed the pigeon with pox this morning. i wanted to search to find "pox" threads but when i did this nothing came up. should i be using another term? the lady who found the bird was...
So I guess when it rains it pours.
One of the new birds I have in quarantine suddenly looks kind of bad.
Lethargic and losing weight, greenish slimy droppings sticking to vent. Droppings have a faint unpleasant odor and are difficult to dislodge from the bird. (pardon my graphic description...
Hi all...
well I finally figured out what was causing all my birds to lose health rapidly... it seems there was a hole in my cage which was probably corroded off cause the drinking water for the birds was always kept above it... and guess what, some mice thought it would be a good idea to pay...
