My pigeons have recently layed an egg. I have a breeding box I was planing on putting the in before the layed the egg. Every time I go inside the coop, she gets off the nest bowl. This is basically what I was trying to avoid. So my question is could I move them and the bowl into the breeding...

Hi all, I have a pair that took over the top shelf and I really don't want them up there with no protection for the babies when they are hatched. Would it be an issue if when they laid both eggs to move the nest bowls to a different spot without causing any issues?

I have described this problem under another thread called "Listless bird...again" but now the issue has been focused. The vet did xrays, blood tests, fecal exam, throat etc....no diagnosis except a slightly enlarged heart and liver and low heart rate (around 100). No infection shows up in the...

I found this intresting form a book I just got on squabing. Quote: ( A peculiarity about pigeon manure is that it is not foulsmelling like hen manure, and when it is mixed with water you get a kind of crude soap. In washing the old-style earthenware nest bowls, no soap was necessary. We used...

Like the title says, I am a perfectionist. I will soon have my first ever bird babies as my birds have been flirting for a week and this morning the female was lying in front of the boy saying come and get it. Vibrating her wings and aggressively grooming his face (but nicely and he was grooming...

I have had a few different occassions this year of fertile eggs survive until very close to hatching and then the egg appears to literally melt, killing the near ready to hatch baby inside. The egg appears to just kinda fold back, and kindof melt off the top half of the fetus. Anybody heard of...

Just received my cock bird today to go along with the hen I have. I don't know if I should let him and her alone and see if they will become a pair on their own, or lock them up in a nesting box for a couple of days and see where it goes from there. I got them both to breed and raise their...
