    In reading online about nutrition and beans - I see that even dried peas and dried lentils have those "anti nutrients" and toxins. I understand that legumes are necessary for a complete protein along with grains. But if they are poisonous, how is it ok to feed them to our pigeons? If a bird...

    I was informed that I can give the feral pigeon in my care some chopped up peanuts to help him gain weight. I won't be able to get some peanuts until tomorrow afternoon and I was wondering if he could have some cashew, almond and walnut pieces in the mean time (of which I have a lot!). Thanks! :)

    I've been given a very large ornamental bowl of unglazed ceramic, and I think it would make a perfect bird bath IF it could be waterproofed. I don't think non-toxic paint would work, as they'd scratch it with their nails. I've got polyurethane varnish, but is that toxic to birds?
