We have 12 pigeons that have moved into our backyard (Near 35th Ave and Northern). They aren't regular pigeons. They are very tame and most have feathers on their feet. We don't want them to stay, but don't want to call an exterminator to "get rid of them".

We would greatly appreciate some advice.

We caught one and it didn't appear to have a band. There are a couple that don't have feathers on their feet and I can see that they don't have bands either.

They all appeared together yesterday morning. We have a pool and they seemed to be really thirsty, but couldn't get to the water so we put out a bowl of water and they went crazy drinking it. (So far we've had to fish 2 of them out of the pool, wet but no worse for wear).

We are working on catching them, but may not have success until next weekend.

What sweet birds

This is extremely strange to find such birds together like this. I'm thinking they may have been dumped or possibly accidently let out .

Hope you have success in catching them , glad to hear an exterminator wasn't called ....too gorgeous to be put to death.

If they all arrived around the same time, then it sounds like they have been dumped.

if you catch any of them with bands please give us the info and we will try to help find the owner.

Thank you for caring for their needs meanwhile. Can you put out some wild bird seed?

Birds are to a good home

We were able to catch all 13 of the pigeons and get them to people who will take good care of them.

I'm so glad they have nice new homes! Can't believe someone would just dump the poor things like that. Fancy domestic breeds do not last long on their own.

Dum question but what breed of pigeons are those and do they fly well if at all? That really does seem strange they all ended up together in your back yard. You handled the situation very well tho.

At least some of them look to be Uzbek Tumblers. They come in plain-headed, crested, beak crested, and double crested. All varieties are muffed. Hard to tell from the picture. They may be mixes.

They flew just fine. The people who took them said they thought they are young Uzbeck Tumblers.
