Dear fanciers and pigeon racers:

With two weeks remaining it is not too late to enter your champions into the 2009 IF Convention Race. Join the 240 plus lofts that entered over 1,430 birds as of 5/17/09 which will make this a great race and Convention.

Please review all the Convention information on:

http://www.perthamboyrpc.com

Just click on the picture of the pigeon head on right

If you need my opinion on handlers please contact me.

A nice intro article about CJC and Bayshore club by Tom Smith is at:

Wish you win.

The 2009 IF convention is sponsored by the Perth Amboy and Bayshore clubs of New Jersey.

I can also offer partnership for this race which I will breed the race birds and you put up the entry fee and save on shipping cost. You get 80% of the prize money. Please contact me if you are interested.

My birds have flown pretty well in CJC for others, myself do not participate in any races due to work.

Thanks for the Post.

To each his own. I tried the Convention race route, and for me, it was a BIG disappointment two years in a row. Regardless what the handler promises, they have never delivered. Poor communication. No idea in some cases if the birds ever made it to the race till after the fact. I would no longer send my birds to one of these events if they paid me. I'd rather pay a little more, and send them to a professional One Loft Event, rather then entrust my birds to amateurs again. Perhaps others have had better experiences and like this type of racing. I wish them continued sucess.

Warren,I can see you point real well..What I don`t understand is WHY, the LOFTS FLYING your pigeons wouldn`t want your birds to win??? If they win,the flyer wins !!!
Makes no sence to me at all....I have two birds from OOA for my combines 2 Auction races..One is from MD.and the other is from Florida....Why wouldn`t I want them to win ??? I get half the $$ won !! So I hope they go one/two in BOTH the Auction races..
And I know I will have two OOA lofts as friends forever, and they will be entering good birds again next year....Alamo

This convention is also a good opportunity to meet other top fanciers who race in the biggest Combine; if you allow your entries to race in the regular CJC races you will see where you stand against some of the best in this country.

Most of the guys I know in this area have to breed less of their own pigeons to accommodate convention race entries, which may mean less chances to win local special races. Last time when I flew the 1999 IF Convention race I did try my best to make sure the convention birds see the race but still some of them were lost during training.

I couldn't agree more warren, undedicated fanciers. Even if it is for loot! Some fanciers are good some aren't. I don't want to make this a bad thing but some guys flying birds for 30+ yrs and they don't know how to settle birds, no flying systems ect I was kind of in awe last au convention. I don't know how someone can take 40 birds and not race them in the season for experience sakes, then hurtem in the money race."didn't even clock any or atleast try 2" Wasn't a big surprise to me.

Anyways maybe another yr Jesse don't have birds ready and birds sent to other races.

To solicit people who would not mind spent $125 for some fun and meet like minded fanciers and yours truely, with a little luck there are prizes to win.

This is not a get rich or investment opportunity, returns are not guaranteed.

Not to throw cold water on every handler in every Convention event that was ever held. But, in your example above, as in all Combine's...there are really only a small % of handlers that have any clue what they are doing. We have 135 members in our UPC Combine, and we are a competitive combine. But, I can tell you this with 100% accuracy.....there are fliers in this combine, that the best birds in the World.....would have no better chance of winning a Convention type race with them as a handler, then a pigeon with only one wing. Over 80% of the prizes are won by less then 20% of the fliers. Which to me, means that you have at least an 80% chance of failure, because you would end up with a poor loft. There is an old saying in poker, that if you don't know who the sucker is at the table, then you are the sucker. Out of 135 lofts in this Combine, there are perhaps only four or five lofts, which I think could provide a bird a fair chance. If we were hosting the Convention Race, those lofts would be filled already, with those who have the knowledge and political connections. Any late comers, would be stuck into a loft, that those in the know, would not send birds to. So, IMHO....if you show up to the table now, in order to play....you are simply adding to the capital prize pool, for one of the guys already in one of the highly sought after lofts. Not the kind of odds I like to work with...but to each his own.

Warren,I`m sure glad I have a bird being flown by Patti Loft....One of the top 5 YB lofts in the CJC....My other bird,is in a young flyers loft, who`s father is a long time pigeon guy,and is helping him train etc...Patti Loft told me to place a bird with him, because he is 19 miles longer then Patti Loft, and on the east side of NJ,as Patti Loft is on the west side...So depending on how the wind is blowing,I would have one bird getting a little help on race day....Looking forward to the race in November..Hope it`s snowing !! hahahahahaha!!!!.........Alamo
