Today, I saw my two birds are mating. But the thing is that the after some kissing, the male one bowed on the floor, and then the female jumped up to him and them flapped her wings. I have always thought that it is male who hops up to his female, and that is the typical sex position of pigeons. Am I wrong?

you've got got your sexes wrong. However, Sometimes they do strange things too, so maybe it could be a hen mounting to show her mate shes interested.

but for sure, I didn't get their sexes wrong. I can check that with the shapes of their anus, right?

Besides, it is mostly male that is bigger.
