There are old style satinettes and there are modern satinettes. Modern satinettes came from the old style but has the short beak. They can not feed young and are not considered old style. I'd came about through showing the bird and I believe the modern is what is mostly shown and not the old style.

So an old style satinett could pass as an old frill?

Saying old style satinettes is the same as saying Classic old frill. Satinette is a group of color phenotypes, but it gets used more as a breed name. The breed is classic old frill. The two branches of showing are satinettes and blondettes. Modern frills also have the same to branches. Classic old frills have beaks long enough to feed young, modern frills have such a short beak they can not.
