please need help with a bird egg

i have found a bird egg in my back garden on the ground
i dont know if the egg fell out of the tree or was laid on the ground?

the bird egg is white, from pictures i seen online looks like it could be a wood pigeon egg

what should i do?
should i bring the egg into my home all time or just at nights?
leave egg were it is on ground?
i don't know if egg been abandoned
will the bird come back for it?
if not will egg survive hatch on the ground in cold i imagine no?

please what should i do?

You can candle the egg to see if development has started, and if so if it’s still alive. You need an egg incubator to hatch it properly, if you’re successful you will need to give specialized, round the clock care to someone who has a low chance of survival. I would leave it unless it is almost ready to hatch. Especially since you don’t know the species and it may be a ground nesting bird.

Please post a picture of the egg while it is being candled. We will be able to tell you if there is any life in it. You candle an egg by placing it on top of a bright light (eg. phone flashlight, flashlight, etc.). DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT put the egg over an actual lit candle! I've had people do that way too many times...
Also please post a picture of the egg while it isnt being candled.
