I keep indian fantail, they have very big long feather feet. I noticed quite often they will break the feather on their feet, and blood everywhere.

I guess some happen due to fighting.

any suggestion to avoid it? Many thanks

Sure...I have that happen with my uzbek tumblers. Grab the feather with two fingers, as close to the root as possible, while holding the foot with the other hand, and full it out. If you don't, you run the risk of causing a bleed which could be fatal it you aren't around to stop the bleed.

You mean pull the feather out? then the new feather will grow. but next time, it will happen again, how can I avoid this?
