We usually pair up after Xmas, and stop late spring so the babies can have a good moult before winter, but many people have late breds into the autumn which do just fine, what I would say is breeding and bringing up young can take it out of the parents so best not to let them have too many offspring each year, the absolute most we would let ours bring up would be three pairs, more often two though. I have been to one stud farm whose owner kept apologising for the condition of his stock birds coz they were bringing up young, now I don't know how many rounds he takes from them but I know the way we do it our birds never look like their condition changes. Hope this is some help to you?
