Collard Dove vomiting

Hi there,

I have a hen collard dove who lately is going through the laying egg stage, she has laid about 6 eggs in the last few weeks. Lately i seen her move her wings in a funny way and then look like she was going to be sick but wasnt, today however she was doing it and threw up. It was watery and greenish with a bit of seed in it. I have no idea what this could be about. Last night she was happy sitting on her egg but today she has left the egg and is just sitting here, doesnt look puffed up just looks normal after just laying an egg as she only done it yesterday.

I noticed the otehr day an egg shell on the floor that didnt seem to have anything in it, like it was just empty when it came out of her, I cant be sure though as I was out at the time but there was no usual yellow egg substance around the shell on the floor.

Is this a common thing for hen eggs to be sick?

Do you know if the egg broke after she laid it or did it break inside her?
If she has reproductive problems best is to take her to a vet as those problems don't resolve on its own.

For now put her on a heating pad on low covered with a towel. She needs to be kept warm.
Offer her water often, if she doesn't drink you have to give it to her with a syringe or eye dropper.
Do you have antibiotics on hand?

I was out at a christening all day worried sick, just got back and she is back sitting on her egg and looks fine. If the egg did break inside her would this cause her to throw up?

It will make her sick especially if there are fragments left inside her. You have to watch her very closely.

That is good news.
Still watch her closely.
