Please contact your senators to please vote "YES" on the Feinstein amendment to protect egg-laying hens. We need to have a conscience as a country, and not put profit before the humane treatment of farm animals. These cages are very inhumane and cruel, the chickens cannot even turn around or stretch their wings indefinitely. In addition we need to ban starvation forced molting and other abusive practices. The very minimal cost that would result is a very small price to pay to give these poor birds better living conditions. We need a national egg labeling program to inform consumers of how hens are confined, and importantly, nationwide standards for animals who currently have basically no protections. As Ghandi said, “You can judge the greatness of a nation by how they treat their animals.”
