Scary! I always worry when we have bad wind and lightning. Our loft and cages are down very close to some suspicious looking, tall, lanky pines. We took one down recently and found that it was only hanging onto the ground by less than half of it's stump base (it was like two trees, but they were almost, if not partly attached). That means one could easily fall, and take the other more sturdy one with it, right onto the loft/chicken coop :eek:
Tornados, fires, and trees falling are my three worst fears when it comes to the birds.

Lucky that is only material damage, it can be repaired.
That's reminds me that I need to take down willow tree by the pigeon cote before storm season. I hate to kill trees but this one is quite old and dangerous.:(

I'm in Syracuse NY, after storm left you, it came to us, huge storm, amazing amounts of lightning. Can't remember the last time a thunder storm lasted all night. Our new releases Squeaky & Mexico are out there in it somewhere. They didn't come to eat this morning, hope they're OK. Glad yours are all safe.

Look it on the bright side...
Now you have enough wooden material to build bigger plus...
extension to the house! :)
