Hi my name is Adam and I just thought it be nice to make a blog like thread on my little guys. I've found Elvis and Joan on the 3rd of July 2011 (Hatchlings). They had fallen out of their tree in our backyard on a windy night and I was unable to locate their mother nor put them back into their nest way up high in our thorn tree. We live in Arizona.

I believe they are White-winged Doves but if anyone thinks differently please leave a comment :)

Joan and Elvis are doing wonderful and and wing very fast. They are close to 3 weeks old now. Elvis loves to fly/hover after me in the backyard. Joan just sprints around and flaps her little wings to perch on my knee or shoulder, Elvis flew on top of my head today and Joan on the side of their bowl while i was mixing the thermometer into the food to get the temp reading.

* I put Elvis and Joan down on the ground after feeding them, walked around with them and Elvis got crazy and started flapping his wings like mad until he got airborne and tried to fly over our 8 foot brick wall, he made it a little over half way up till i quickly ran over and garbed him and placed him on my shoulder. I was not expecting him to all of a sudden fly 4 feet into the air ;o Little guy gave me a heart attack.

Elvis flew from the ground to my shoulder today, he also flew onto the neighbors house then back over to ours. Sometimes he scares the hell out of me but i know that i just have to let them do what they do. Joan is starting to do more with her wings hovering here and there but nothing like Elvis. Once he starts to flap those little wings its like he goes mad lol

They ate seeds for the first time today, Joan loves them. Elvis always tries to stand on top of Joan hes such a bully, but thats ok Joan got him back by pooping on him when she was above him perching. Had to clean it off so i guess she got us both.

I love these two so much and I'm so grateful and blessed to have the opportunity to raise these beautiful birds. Here are some videos I've made over the week of having Elvis and Joan :) I hope you enjoy the photos and videos I've made and I'll keep this thread updated at least once a day with a video, photo or just a little comment on what happened that day.

wow they got big quick. nice work
Yeah they did! I can't wait until they start to learn how to fly. Any tips on where a good location would be when they do? The cage isn't all that big that we have them in, i plan to build them a small loft soon.

Like take them to an open field? in the house? I don't think our backyard is the best idea because right over our brick wall is a very busy 4 lane road and i wouldn't be able to get to the other side fast enough if they did end up flying over it.
