With my homers, parents take turn feeding them. They know how to do it! The parents regurgitate food from their mouth and the babies stick their beaks and eat in there. Now I don't know whether English owl can feed their babies though. There are some breeds which need a foster parent because they can't feed their babies. Any English owl expert here? Search for youtube and you can see many pigeons feeding their babies.
with all the people in here that raise pigeons,no one else can tell me what to expect, will the chick start feeding today?
Do you have a picture of the OGO parents? I'm thinking also that some of them can't feed their babies, but I wouldn't know unless I saw a picture of the actual bird.
The parents will start feeding the baby within a few hours after hatching. Have you checked on the baby recently?
They should already be feeding it. You can carefully check to see if its crop is full. ;)
According this web site, they CAN feed their babies, are good parents and even make good foster parents.

What a cute baby. It LOOKS like it has some food in it's crop, but it's sort of hard to tell really. The other egg should be at least pipping and for sure should hatch in the next 12 hours I would think if it's going to hatch. Just keep an eye on it.
Are you watching the birds all the time or ? I've got a feeling they are feeding it but some parents won't feed if someone is watching them. I know most of my birds will stop and cover the baby back up if I walk up to them. I can "hide" and be real quiet and they don't know I'm there and then I can watch them feed.
Cute baby? lol i love the little thing, but i cant see how its cute.i raise silkies and when they hatch out they are what i would call cute.now i know in a few months this will turn out to be a gorgeous bird, but for now....its scary looking to me.lol .i will keep an eye out on the other egg tonight i know when i candled it ,it looked as if would be hatching soon.thanks all for your replies,i feel better now.

LOL.......it's all in the eyes of the beholder I guess. Anything "baby" is cute to me. Some cuter than others, I agree, but cute all the same.
Your little silkies are just adorable. I sure wish I could have some chickens. :(

I've gotta agree - only a face a mother could love - NOW. But with a few weeks (not months) (s)he will be adorable. Within month, (s)he will look like a small full grown pigeon. It's really amazing how fast they grow!!!
Check the crop if you are very worried. If it is bulging and plumb, then there is pigeon milk in there.
Nice silkies. May I ask if the food at the left is a crumble or pellets or even smash? I have only used pellets on pigeons so I don't know what crumble or smash looks like.
the food i feed my chicks is crumble start and grow,i dont feed that to my pigeons, they get fed seed.
the other baby never hatched so i checked the egg,it was fully formed, but died inside the shell ):
I'm so sorry to hear about the second baby. :(

How is the other baby?
its doing great.... momma & daddy are taking very good care of it.
