I have a pigeon that my husband found at his shop. She was wild when he found her. He wants to let her go now that she has had babies, but I think that the male bird she has bonded with will be unhappy. What do you think we should do? I don't want the male pigeon to go into depression. We have had them for about a year now. I'm hoping that if he lets her go she will stay around and go back into the loft. Thanks for your help

Pigeons do morte than bond, they mate for life. I think it would be cruel and very sad to split them up.

They mate for life, and if she is happy where she is, I would leave her be. She is used to having food and water and shelter provided for her. It seems rare that a former feral will object to being kept "prisoner" in an aviary, or at least as far as I've seen that is the case.
