Yes, or just check first thing in the morning. The hen will still be on the nest then. During the day you can't be sure, as sometimes one or the other won't get off and share the eggs. I have one male that will sit for a short while, then get off, so she has to take over. A little while later he is on them again. If you check first thing in the morning, the hen will still be on them from the night before. Hard when they all look alike.
