I recently bought a brown check hen I had it home for a day or so and it layed an egg and abandoned it. I had another pair lay an egg the same day so I put it under that pair. Will the foster pair take it as there own or will they abandon it also?

They will incubate the egg, but the female will probably lay anothet egg and there will be three eggs. There's always a chance that the first egg is not fertile.

Very true! If a third egg is layed should I wait a few days to see if it’s fertile? And if all the eggs are fertile will the parents be able to hatch three eggs?

Hi, make sure you mark the egg of the brown check hen so you know which bird laid the egg you can mark it with nail polish or a magic marker just put a little x mark on the egg
