found dove with green markings and no band Elizabeth NJ

well title said it all, bird eats and can fly. I fed him and than chased him away yesterday but it came back to my balcony this morning

It appears to me to be a King pigeon, which is large size pigeon. They actually don't fly so very well. Short distances maybe, but that's about it. Can you catch the bird? If so, possibly a member near you could help out, but without capture, there's not a lot that anyone can do.

Where is the green? (If you can size down your pic a bit then it would be easier for us to see). It's not a common practice but tis possible that someone dyed some feathers for some reason.Thanks for your reply. Why is it marked with green paint, is this common practice?
