My kids found this pigeon this morning. Well first my dog chased it off the patio and it was hiding behind a rosebush. I didn't let the dog back out. And when I came back, the pigeon was back on the patio happily pecking away at the ground.

I read this website:
https://pethelpful.com/wildlife/Comm...thered-Friends

and put the pigeon in a box with some water and some popcorn. As I went to catch the pigeon I noticed it seems to have an injured wing. No blood, but it does not wish to use it.

I don't know what to do now. I have 5 kids and a dog and am not looking to adopt another pet. But I don't want the poor thing to suffer. It seemed happier outside the box, but I'm worried if it roams free a cat or a hawk may find a tasty treat.

Let me know what I should do please! I live in Brentwood, CA, USA

I accidentally posted to general discussion, here

There have been responses in your other thread, but you haven't come back in. Making 2 threads makes it confusing.

Hi! There are two Brentwood cities in CA, one near LA and one in northern CA. If you are in the northern Brentwood you are near Medical Center for Birds in Oakley which has top quality world famous avian specialists(we drive four hours to take our birds there) as well as Palomcy in the bay area. If you are in the Brentwood in the LA area, there are likely rescues near there. Will google this. Thank you for helping the bird!

cwebster, if you read his other post on the same sublect, you will find that he brought the bird to the animal shelter, not the best place for an injured feral.

Thank you all for your help. I contacted a vet in the area, and his recommendation was to take it to a shelter. I will inform him of the other/better options so that if others reach out to him, he can provide better care.

Thank you!

Unfortunately, vets often don't care about pigeons, so telling you to do that was just their way of not having to deal with it.
