Help please. I'm in Rhode Island. Found injured pigeon last night. He's in a box with a heating pad on low and a bowl of water and seems to be calm this morning. He can't seem to use his legs. No injury that I can see. The legs seem to be paralized. Other than that, he drinks and eats and cleans himself. Seems content. What do I do? What could be wrong with his legs?

hi, could possibly be spinal trauma which isn't hopeless sometimes they can recover with time and rest and sometimes steroids help.
if you feel his keel bone which is a bone that runs down the center of his chest are the muscles meeting up to it or is it protruding and sharp?
if you look in his mouth is it clean and pink, does it smell foul at all?
can you post a pic ?

Hi, Robin...thanks for saving him/her. You have taken all the right steps so far.

Please try to feed him something...even some small pieces of bread of breakfast cereal if you don't have any seed.

A few questions:

1) does he flap his wings ? does he turn his head this way and that ?

2) after you give him food, is he eating it, or ignoring it ?

3) is he alert and curious, or sorta lethargic ?

4) Do both legs look the same ?

Please post a few pics of the bird and her legs. Thanks for helping !!!!
