i have foung a young feral pigeon!
he still has yellow hair on his head(i think he might be 2 months or younger). he is almoast fully feathered, there are some feathers that are still growing.
his beek is pink. overall i dont see any inyuries, the inside of beek is all pink.
He doesnt eat by himself, so i force feed him with millet and linseed. i feed him 3 times a day, until his crop(?) is kinda full and you can feel the seeds. he does not peck seeds. he drinks water or water+honey+salt by himself. but his dropppings are very watery, like only yellow - brown water. and i believe thats not very good. he seems alert, but not very active either(he usually walks/flys to someplace and than takes a nap there).im not home all the time so can not monitor him at all times to tell more about his behavior.
im scared he is sick, beacuse i dont have an access to special antibiotics or vaccines. also i couldnt find any dove/pigeon feed at the pet stores.
he weighs 130 grams. he can fly a distence of 1 - 2m.
how much should i feed him? what should i feed? how much should he weigh?how do i know he isnt sick? what are the chances that he will grow to be a healthy pigeon?

any help would be appreciated!

UPDATE: he seemd tiered and apatheic today! want keen on flying. he usually sits by the window in sunlight - today he seeked shadow where to puff up. Is this bad???HELP!!!

The bird may be just a month old, please post a picture.

The bird needs to be weaned-and you can start by leaving a small spill proof bowl with pigeon mix or wild bird seed in it. What you are feeding does notrprovde the nutrition the bird needs.

MEANWHILE, DO NOT feed if there is any food in crop, feed only when empty.

You can easily feed frozen peas/thawed/drained and warmed. Check this link on how to feed, what to feed. http://www.pigeonrescue.co.uk/caringforababypigeon.htm

Antibiotics is not needed, unless there is a diagnosis. However, it would be good if you could provide some probiotics to the youngster to get the good gut bacteria in balance, it will help with overall health, solidify poop and get weight gain.

Hello!
thanks a million in advance!
not enough nutrion is a reasonable cause for his apathy.
what main ingredients should be in the pigeon mix? or what seed would be nutritious in general?

also, can you give birds human probiotics(like Linex) dissolved in water? and if not are there any simple substitues to bird-medicine probiotics?

how much should a bird of this age weigh?(an approximate number would do, ofcourse if you can tell the age)

Looks to be 3 weeks to 3.5 weeks old. Yes if you have nothing, else put a pinch of probiotic in his water. HE is too light, should weight a least 200-300 grams if he is a baby if he is not a racer but a feral. Feed this baby all he wants at least 3 times a day fill his crop. Google on youtube how to feed a pigeon that wont eat. Hang on I may still have one of my vids up.....

part one and two

Your bird is old enough to do this too, then offer some water dip the beak in and allow to drink, dont cover nostrils tho. You can also use the same method to give thawed peas and corn as I do with the peanut in this vid.

Is his crop emptying over night? Please post a pic of poop as well.
Does he seem alert now or still fluffed up?

... As much as i would like to report happy updates, the truth is that my bird died. i was holding and comforting him till the last minute...he died on my hands...
:(
i already knew he wasnt feeling good this morning, when i discovered little to no droppings in his box. but in the afternoon he was very lathargic. his eyes were closed, he was breathing through his beek. he wouldnt even drink or move.
he died minutes after i took this picture:

i assume he probably was already sick, when his parents threw him out of the nest.
this outcome was expectable, but still ...

thank you for your replies to my post, i really appreciate it. youre doing a wonderful job on this site helping people care for pigeons.

Oh I am so sorry for your loss, just read your thread and now think I shouldn't have read it. So sorry.
Well, when read about he has all watery droppings, seems like some crop blockage but nothing could have been done in this short span. It was good that he got you in his last moments to love and care for. Thank you for that. Many birds die in wild terribly and find no help.
Thanks for your caring heart and love for animals. Many in this world leave them alone and so you are wonderful.
Keep it up, may be you can help some other needy birds in future.
Thanks a ton for your help.
