ok guys ive been searching for this thread with a pair of birds layed the 1st egg and moved it to wait for the 2nd egg layed then put the 1st egg back so they will tend to both babies when they hatched or such thing,or so they will hatched the same day,i kinda want to try to do that since my other pair is about to lay eggs..need more details on it please..
will they look for the 1st egg?
where is the best place to put the 1st egg to make sure it'll be ok ?

well you don't have to take the first egg, unless you KNOW the pair sit tight on it right when it is layed,most times they don't sit the first one. If you do need to take the first egg so both nestlings are the same size, you then would put a dummy egg in the nest and take the first egg, and wait till the second is layed and then put the real one back and remove the dummy egg. you would want to put the real egg in a cool place on something soft and turn it a couple time in the day.

It depends on the pair. I have one pair that starts incubating after both eggs are laid. They hatched at the same time. Most of my pair seems to do that stupid thing when they start incubating the first layed egg so one baby ended up bigger than the other one. I've never taken an egg out so I suppose you are supposed to put in a place that has the temperature inside the loft. I will probably put mine inside a kitchen cabinet.

thanks for the replies peeps,i was just kinda worried with another incident of my other pair who just fed the bigger one baby and not even thought of the other you know?cause when i saw the 1st egg they werent even layin on it so i thought of taken it out and wait for the other to come..i dunno but this pair im speaking about just arrived to me already paired and the next day an egg popped out,the person i got them from didnt even tell me she was preggy hehehe..i guess we'll see..thanks..

How long to hatch pigeon eggs

was that a question justice?if so i guess 18-20 days.

If I get squabs of drastically different sizes in the same nest, I just switch them around with others, from other nests, to keep the two in the nest roughly the same size.
Pigeons hatch in 17 days.
