Please can anyone help me. I found a young pigeon who had recently fled the nest but he couldnt walk or fly properly. I kept him over night in a box with a doughnut towel. I have taken him to the vets who said his leg appears to have broken and set bent but didnt really help much more. I can feel at the knee joint it is bent and set, but it has made his leg shorter i think this is why he cant walk and keeps tipping over...What shoud i do...will it get better in a few days??? and he will adjust??

I have bought him layers mash food recommended but he wont really eat anything.

Thanks

Hi

Could it be a splayed leg? Can you post a pic of the pigeon. We may then be able to determine age and what would be appropriate (and how) to feed him. It may be that he hasn't quite reached fledging age.

Also, where are you located? May be a rescue place that could help him or offer more hands-on advice.

Hi John,

Thank you for your response but unfortunately he has died, so sad, but i re examined his leg and it was really broken quite bad.

So sad

Ah well .. no-one can win them all :(

Least he got someone caring for him - more than many of them do.
