Is it normal for hens that are separated from the cock birds to continue to lay eggs? About once or twice a month, one or more of my hens lay an egg and not while setting on the floor. They drop them from the perches and make a mess. I have a pair (hens) that are setting on wooden eggs but they have been doing this on and off for a couple of months. Seems strange to me.
