Go 1 mile north, west, south, east. go counterclockwise because the birds will fly in circles clockwise. This way as they range they fly into an area they have seen. Then five miles, ten. That is as far as I go unless I am making a trip someway. I might take some birds with me and release them along the way. I'm cheap and gas is not. After I am done with training I take them to work and release them just because I can.

5 miles in the same direction. Or 1 mile around the clock like Big T says. Just try to observe how they perform. If their performance improves on their next toss, then they maybe are ready for the next one. If they come home first before you do, move up.

big T,

That's not being cheap, that's being conservation minded. Which means you're GREEN!!!!
