I've been working with my YB's for awhile now and they trap instantly when I call em. My problem is for the last 2 weeks they have had open loft for half hour each night, but now they come out and land on the loft roof or house roof or in the yard to forage around. How do I get these guys up and flying for their excersize as opposed to being lazy?

Thanks,

Matt, if your rollers are coming in well, it is ok to flag them to keep them in the air.
You want to scare them off the ground and perches without panicking them, so that they don't fly off and become lost.
Just approach them and wave your hands or a cloth to motivate them to fly again.
When they get a little older and stronger on the wing they will stay up longer.

I don't know what your feeding them but I would try cutting back on the protein by adding Barley to the mix (maybe as much as 50%). I would also cut back on the amount. This tends to motivate mine to fly more.
