We found an injured pigeon this morning, seems to be an injured wing appears to be an adult, I think male. Put him in a box added some heat let sit for couple hours then tried to release hoping he was just bruised. Would not fly recaptured put back into box have tried to get him to eat some broccoli and unpopped popcorn tried water all to no avail even tried to get water into beak with a straw (no dropper) the bird is warm, alert and very calm. I have called vet and the rehabber we have the closet bird rehabilitator is almost 100 miles away. Looking for suggestions/help

Where are you located?
Can you get some wild bird seed with mixed seeds in it? And can you keep him inside for now in a large cage or even a cat or dog carrier. A box if need be. Offer him the seed and a small dish of water that he cannot tip over. Giving him water in his beak with a straw is dangerous as they can easily be aspirated. Gently dip his beak into the water to show him where it is, but not over the nostrils or he can aspirate.
Can you post a picture of him? And check him for any injuries or wounds?
