Sorry, the bird did not walk sixty miles to get home, most likely some one found it, kept it prisoner for that long It either escaped, or was released, and got worn out close to home, and walked the last few hundred yards or so... Dave
Look, i like the story, but NO bird makes it home from 60 miles, after ten years with it's wings clipped. IF it escaped from pigeon thieves sixty miles away, and it took ten years to get back it's wings would have grown out...
It is more likely, that a local flyer had the bird as a prisoner, and the fool tried to settle it 1/2 mile or less away, and it came back from that distance.
I do not fault the bird for his guts or homing ability. just like to keep it real. Dave
