Hi I've got a pigeon that looks to have been attacked by a kestrel or other bird of prey I think his spine is on show no wet blood so maybe few days old the rescue is shut till Monday and he's currently in my shed with food and water but not sure if it needs putting to sleep as he can fly a bit but not high enough to leave my garden I don't want it to suffer so need help cardiff area in Wales

Bring him inside where it is warm, he could be in shock.
Have you washed and flushed the wound yet? That's the number one priority to head off bacterial infection.
Once the wound is well flushed, after five minutes of rinsing in warm clear water.
After the wound is clean and air dry, spread a generous amount of Neosporin on the wound.
Do this procedure every day, never letting the wound dry out. After about three days, the skin grafts will be anchored with new tissue growing outward from them. The entire wound, depending on the size will heal over in three to six weeks.
