All I wanted to say is THANK GOD the molt is ending ! For me anyway .

I say Amen..This years molt has been one of the heaviest that I have seen. I have one 14 year old pigeon that lost all its "hugh" feathers on one wing and it looked like it split in two places. Its healing fine but next week I will bring it to my avian vet just for another opinion.. I believe the wing was so itchy for the pigeon that it rubbed the hard wire to find relief and took off some of the skin on it or its mate pecked the area harshly. Question mark for me??? Never saw this before...pigeon doing fine and new feathers are coming in now.. I have it in the bird room in my house in a playpen so that it won't get hurt any more that might make it worse..Pigeons name is Pal...

This was the heaviest and longest molt Ive seen. One of my pigeon buddy said its a sign that we are in for a long cold winter...

Let's hope your buddy is wrong. Maybe it's because of the long hot summer we have had.

All our birds are molting too and the weather just changed from 107 to 70s in the daytime and 40s at night the past few days. Hope Pal is ok.
