These are both available at Foy's Pigeon Supplies and are somewhat necessary for good health of the pigeons. If your feeder and waterer are not styled like these, the feces will get into both the food & water & cause health problems. Even though there is some expense involved, it is well worth it. You could probably build the feeder, but the waterer is probably best purchased, unless you are real creative.
I purchased large and inexpensive plastic dog food bowls which I use for nesting. I put straw in mine, but the pine needles sound like a real good idea!
I think your nesting boxes are looking good! Keep up the good work!
