Hi,

Can anyone tell me what type of pigeon this latest rescue is.

It was handed into my vets on Wednesday and I want to try and find it's home if possible. It has no bands to help.

It's quite tame and seems very well.

Do these birds fly free normally?

Any info would help so I can try and guage how far away it might live. (I'm afraid I don't have a clue about fancy breeds).

Thanks,

Janet

With muffs that large, pearl eyes, and a crest .. that was never a wild bird and really should never have to try to be one. I don't know the breed, but it's definitely a fancy/show bird or a mix of same and not a feral. Why don't you post the pic in the Show Forum and see if someone can ID it for you?

Thanks so far for that.

I'm trying a fancy pigeon forum now and have posted in the Show Pigeons.

Just out of interest, are these pigeons let out to fly just over their local area as a rule, as they obviously aren't geared to homing and long haul flights as Terry mentioned.

yes west of England tumbler, not a performance breed so would not think it would do well out, but some people fly fancies just not many people do.
